HomerWood is a manufacturer of high quality hardwood plank flooring, offering site-finished, prefinished and Amish Hand-Scraped Character Grade™ products. HomerWood's Character Grade hardwood flooring is a specialty product not a commodity item. It is different from the norm because it's not a strip but plank. Looking around a showroom, most likely you will see clear flooring in different sizes and colors. HomerWood's wide plank products have a distinct look, one that can't be imitated.

Character Grade™

For HomerWood, Character Grade is our target grade and is not an off-fall from other production. Machining defects are not considered part of the grade.

Character Grade is unique and only manufactured by HomerWood. We use the word "Character" to describe our flooring because the wood's inherent characteristics - the very fingerprints of nature - have been beautifully and reassuringly preserved. Of course, we remove any defects that could weaken your floor. The end result is an elegant floor that includes both clear and character planks that reflect the best attributes of the natural wood. All HomerWood flooring is available in:

• site-finished, prefinished and Amish Hand-Scraped options.
• stock widths of 3", 4", 5", and 6".
• 2-1/4" widths available on accumulation basis.
• 3/4" thick tongue and groove solid planks.
• sap free, special lengths, and 7" widths by custom order.

Do not confuse Character Grade with lower quality rustics, #2 and cabin grades, which contain large edge defects, stained wood, machining defects and unsound pieces. These inferior flooring grades are left over after the better grade is pulled out. Character Grade is the only grade we pull from lumber selected for a sound vintage look.

Amish Hand Scraped Collection

This collection of Character Grade flooring offers a truly authentic distressed look because it is hand-scraped by Pennsylvania Dutch craftsmen in the tradition of Renaissance-era woodworking. New planks are individually hand-sculpted to create unique custom flooring of timeless originality and distinction. Unlike most of today's machine-distressed flooring, no two planks are alike and each bears the signature of the proud craftsman who created it. The Amish Hand-Scraped Collection is available in prefinished and site-finished wood. Some species are specially stained to further enhance and deepen the effect of the hand scraping. It is a beautiful choice for adding heritage and history to your home.

Prefinished Facts

HomerWood prefinished floors are clear coated, with a low sheen, and durable finish that utilizes the latest finishing technology backed by a wear-through warranty. The current technology is a multi-coat aluminum oxide used by most major flooring manufacturers. The prefinish process features:

• Clear coat aluminum oxide finish
• 30-35% low sheen satin finish
• An optional saddle stain which can be applied to hickory or oak
• Micro-bevel on all 4 sides (site-finished flooring has a square edge and end match)
• 15 Year wear-through residential warranty
• 100% solid urethane
• No solvents, emissions or residue
• UV-cured rolled-on finish
• UV-cured sealers and topcoats
• 7 coats consisting of 4 base coats and 3 top coats
• Our topcoats have small particle aluminum oxide that serves to provide gloss retention for the finish.
• Final coat is urethane verses aluminum oxide. This is more easily refinished and smoother than having aluminum oxide in the final finish coat.
• 2.5 mil finish with Taber Cycle ratings in the 300 to 400 range
• Abrasion resistant properties
