Timbers and brackets cut from green or rough stock timbers are subject to cracking and or shrinkage as they dry out. This is a natural characteristic of the product and is not considered a defect.
Timbers are lumber milled in custom lengths for structural (ridge beams and posts) and decorative purposes and can be used for either interior or exterior applications.
Solid Timbers
We use our 75 year-old carriage saw to cut solid timbers and beams from our stock lumber source. Most timbers are sawed from cedar and Douglas fir. Our sawyers can cut timbers up to 34' in length and up to 16" wide.
Hollow Beams
Hollow beams are commonly made from 1" thick solid oak, cherry, or maple. Hollow beams give the appearance of solid timbers without the weight. All hollow beams are hand crafted to custom sizes, with mitered, butt-jointed or dadoed corners. Most hollow beams are used for ceiling applications, but can also be used for vertical decorative uses as well.
